Currently Willyton is in the ATL Area singing and playing the trumpet with numerous band and groups in the area. Last month recorded 0playing the trumpet, singing background vocals and singing the lead in Olle Como Va and continue recording a christmas cd and a enw project for 2010.
While on tour in Iraq in 2005, Willyton thought about starting a recording studio once he returned to the US. Consequently, he started to write lyrics and to create beats. However, after some time passed, he realized there was a problem in his plan; he did not have someone to sing or record his songs. As a result, Willyton decided he would sing and record his own songs. When he communicated his decision to his now business partner, Jose Pomales alias Vampafu, the latter laughed and made fun of him. Nevertheless, Willyton continued to practice hard. He has presented himself as Willyton and has sung in many live shows as part of “Orquesta Latin Fire” and “Orquesta con Clase”. Willyton has persevered in his dreams; all the experience he has gathered has helped him evolve into the artist he is today. In 2007 he had to deploy back to Irak entertaining thousand of troops and civilian contractors.
Willyton was born in 1980, in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He was exposed to music through his father, a famous artisan in PR who plays percussion. Willyton fell in love with music at an early age. When he started studies at the Antonio Paoli School of Music, in Caguas, PR, he was particularly drawn to playing the trumpet and that is when his special devotion for this instrument started. Willyton is academically and professionally trained to play trumpet, piano and percussion. He has also received singing techniques, arranging and composition training. With an eagerness to learn more about music, he decided to make music his life, thus he enrolled in the Conservatory of Music of PR from 1998-2001. During those years, he performed with groups and artists in and out of PR such as, Jessica Cristina, Karis, Cultura Profetica, Son by Four, Charlie Cruz, Orquesta Querubin, the Municipal Band of Caguas and many cover bands in PR.
In 2001, he joined the US Army Band and has since toured the states singing and performing. Willyton has toured to Iraq several times to entertain troops. He currently works as a music section leader, arranger, graphic designer and singer for Orquesta Latin Fire and for Premium Blend (Reggaeton and R&B band), and as a trumpet player in many other groups. Willyton has performed for the President and Vice President of the US and for many high profile members of the government. He has also performed in festivals in SC, GA, FL and PR.
